Hosted on my Debian server the site uses PHP, Apache with a MySQL database and prototype for the front-end. This site was created using a custom framework my business partner and I created during the project.
The GameAmp Network consisted of dozens of pc gaming sites (primarily FPS and MMO) that we were bolstering with strong SEO to drive monetization through advertising.
Initially we were just trying to make educational sites in the interest of earning some side cash while doing what we enjoyed doing. Eventually others took notice in our network and we eventually sold 49% of the company to TiltWorks for a strategic partnership to create video-game related T-Shirts. Upon this purchase the company had an evaluation of $600k (within 12 months of being created).
Monetization occured in:
The short term goals were a success as both my partner and I were full time employees of a company we made. Upon the strategic partnership our goals (and timeline) because more rushed and we didn't hit our stride. The T-Shirts that were created never got picked up by major markets and a venture into applications did not prove to be profitable. In the end we ran out of money and learned a great deal about the momentum of business.
Though the network went offline upon the coffers going dry, we did have some impressive stats during the network's lifetime:
12+ sites
1 Store
300,000+ users
500,000+ sessions a day
